A graphic from CNBC titled “The Gender Pay Gap” says women make $.84 for every dollar a man makes, leading to $9,954 less per year in earnings for a 40-year total of $398,160. It does not explain why this pay gap exists.
But what’s driving these numbers is not what most people think.
